A minstrel is an icon of a simpler time; one in which a day could be unexpectedly but affably interrupted by the resonance of a stringed instrument and its vocal attendant. A time when a melody was personalized, uncommon and economical. The evolution of the minstrel into an orchestra and the translation of his purpose into numerous performing arts says much about what we are. The devolution of entertainment into necessity and our unabated appetite for distraction may say as much about what we will become. Not all minstrels entertain. Some heal. Some teach. The key to being a minstrel is time; time for trust, respect, courage, humor, affection. The question is, "Will we ever again have the time to incorporate these values into our everyday lives or will their true meaning fade with the passing of time to be replaced by professional services or soul-less technology?". Enclosed are anecdotes on the subject of minstrels. The setting is the latter part of the 20th century; from just after the Great War to the end of the millenium. The journey begins at the leading edge of a rapid rise in population and it allows a glimpse at what "was", along with observations from the summit of the wave to what "will be". With the Moon in Scorpio, you have some real issues with sharing. Even if others irritate you, don't let your feelings affect the way you treat your coworkers and associates. Your snippy behavior could have a domino effect on the general order of things. An action you take to assert yourself may be mistaken for aggression. For the sake of peace and smooth sailing at the office, resolve all differences as soon as possible. At home, be considerate of others, and be careful not to hog communal belongings. |
